M10 House: A Modern Oasis in the Heart of Fukuoka City

Creating a Safe and Private Haven for Families

The M10 House, designed by Masahiko Sato, is a residential architecture project that offers a unique blend of safety, privacy, and modern design. Located in the bustling city of Fukuoka, Japan, this house stands out as a serene oasis amidst the urban chaos.

The M10 House was specifically designed to provide a safe and comfortable living space for families, allowing them to take pride in their home while enjoying privacy and protection. The location, in the heart of Fukuoka City, presented a challenge due to the crowded surroundings. However, Masahiko Sato successfully transformed this challenge into an opportunity to create a truly remarkable design.

Upon entering the M10 House, visitors are immediately greeted by a stunning floating staircase that serves as a focal point in the entrance hall. The design of the staircase, with its beautiful floating steps and strategically placed windows, allows natural light to filter in, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. The use of indirect lighting installed under the stair treads further enhances the overall atmosphere of the space.

The M10 House features a unique layout, with a central light court surrounded by two volumes of different heights. This design element, combined with the L-shaped eaves, creates a modern and simple exterior appearance. To add depth and warmth to the building, a concrete object of varying heights is positioned in front of the exterior wall, complemented by the use of red cedar wood.

Technical specifications of the M10 House include the installation of indirect lighting along the ceiling, running down to the floor. This, combined with the indirect lighting in the kitchen, creates a sleek and modern interior. The balcony connected to the living room is intentionally designed without openings facing the main road, ensuring privacy and a sense of security for the residents.

The M10 House not only prioritizes safety and privacy but also aims to create a lasting impression. In the evening, the simple and modern exterior comes to life, illuminated by carefully placed lighting. This effect, similar to the impact of the concrete object, adds a sense of depth and elegance to the overall design.

Completed in July 2016, the M10 House is a testament to the meticulous research and attention to detail that went into its creation. Masahiko Sato and his team aimed to harmonize every element, from function to environment, to create a space that brings joy and pleasure to its inhabitants. The result is a stunning residential design that stands as a testament to the value of thoughtful and innovative architecture.
